A section of lawmakers allied to Deputy President William Ruto now says that President Uhuru Kenyatta has confirmed that their concerns lately have been genuine.

Led by Mathira MP Rigathi Gachagua, they on Friday claimed that it is because of their vocal nature that president Uhuru Kenyatta announced changes earlier in the week.

They said that it is because of their concerns, which have been termed noises by their critics, that encouraged the president to introduce reforms to help farmers in Mt Kenya region.

"Had we not raised these issues, probably they would have not been addressed. Those around the President are misguided. We will not keep quiet. We will continue making noise. The end justifies the means. We will not stop there," he said.

Gachagua made the remarks during a press conference at the parliament buildings.

He declared their support for the changes, which included the sacking of Mwangi Kiunjuri from the Agriculture docket, claiming that Uhuru has confirmed that there was indeed a problem.

"Those people who have been saying we are disrespectful — the Kieleweke and others — the President himself admitted there was a problem and he has moved to fix it," he added.

They hoped that the introduced changes will help revive the Mt Kenya economy which has been ailing, vowing to continue pushing.

The group has been very vocal about the state of affairs in Mt Kenya lately, calling upon Uhuru to address the plight of coffee, tea and milk farmers from Mt Kenya.
