Renowned lawyer in Nyamira County Steve Mogaka has said it is a big shame for a section of leaders from Abagusii community to oppose Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i.
The vocal lawyer accused Matiang'i's critics led by South Mugirango MP Sylvanus Osoro of seeking political fame and relevance by disparaging Matiang'i's track record.
"It is a big shame for a section of leaders from Gusii region to publicly oppose Matiang'i whose star in leadership is shining. I urge the critics to change their position and rally behind Matiang'i," said Mogaka.
He maintained that Kenyans have accepted Matiang'i's hard work since he was absorbed into government, therefore, Gusii leaders should support him unconditionally.
Mogaka argued that the name of Gusii community is trending at the national level because of Matiang'i.
"We should not be our own enemies opposing our own son who is shining in matters leadership. I challenge Gusii community leaders to stand firm and woe other community leaders to back Matiang'i to run for presidency in 2022," he stated.
The lawyer was speaking on Friday at Mabundu village, West Mugirango constituency in Nyamira County.
