Outspoken Embakasi East member of parliament Paul Ongili who is popularly known as Babu Owino has dismissed Deputy President William Ruto’s claims that he (Ruto) and president Kenyatta negotiated for Raila Odinga’s job at the African Union (AU).
Through a Facebook post, the youthful politician who is a staunch supporter and confidant of Raila Odinga has maintained that Raila Odinga must be Kenya’s president even if it will take 100 years.
Mr Owino further rubished Ruto’s presidential bid saying that Ruto will never be president.
“William Ruto should stop fooling himself, he never negotiated anything for Baba. Even if it will take us 100 years of not giving up Raila Odinga will have to be the PRESIDENT and Ruto the RESIDENT,” Babu Owino posted.
The exchange of bitter words between William Ruto’s allies and those allied to the former Prime Minister has been escalated by the on the fake gold scandal.
Ruto and his allies have linked Raila to the fake Gold trade allegations which Raila has strongly dismissed.
Babu Owino's sentiments come at a time when speculations are rife that Deputy President William Ruto and the ODM party leader Raila Odinga are likely to face off in the upcoming 2022 presidential race.
Raila has however not confirmed on whether he is still interested in leading the nation.
