A Member of Parliament from Gusii region has said former Sports Cabinet Secretary Rashid Echesa's appointment to Cabinet last year was miraculous
South Mugirango MP Sylvanus Osoro said Echesa's sacking was long overdue since he lacked exposure for the job and had often failed to live up to promises.
"Echesa's appointment to Cabinet by President Uhuru Kenyatta was miraculous in the first place. His sacking came at the right time because of his incompetency," he said.
The vocal lawmaker wondered why President Uhuru could appoint Echesa who never stepped secondary school.
The MP supported Echesa's sacking saying those unhappy with President Uhuru's decision to sack Echesa should keep off.
"Changes are necessary in government for the purpose of making governance better. We should not criticize Uhuru or demand answers from him because he fired Echesa. It is important to note that Mr Kenyatta has powers of hiring and firing," he added.
According to the lawmaker, Echesa was not sacked because of his closeness with Deputy President William Ruto.
"Echesa's closeness to DP Ruto didn't facilitate his sacking as being claimed. Ruto has not suffered any blow following his sacking," he noted.
