Here are the common fungal infections in people with the disease;

1. Cryptococcosis

It is among the fatal fungal infections that is prevalent in HIV patients. It is caused by a certain causative agent identified as C. neoformans. It is reported that this condition usually results to Cryptococcal meningitis that afflicts the central nervous system.

Common symptoms associated with it include pain in the neck, fever, mental confusion, and blurred vision. 

2. Histoplasmosis

It is another fungal infection that is most common in people with HIV/AIDS. It is caused by a bacteria identified as H. capsulatum. This infection can give rise to chronic lung disease like tuberculosis in people with advanced HIV. 

Unexplained weight loss, shortness of breath, cough, fever are among the the symptoms associated  with this malady.

3. Coccidiomycosis

Just like the above-mentioned fungal infections, it is transmitted by fungal infection found in soil. The causative agent for this particular infection is C. immitis.

The condition can also bring about other serious illness ranging from heart inflammation, bone lesions and skin ulcers. Symptoms include fever, headache, cough among others.
