According to an informer close to the executive boss, Korane and the former finance CEC had been engaging in verbal supremacy battles, and the duo never see each other in the face, despite their kinship ties.

Since Idris Mukhtar knew almost all the secrets of the county boss, he decided to disclose to relevant government authorities with the hope that action could be taken against him.

This, alone, could have completely brought down the first-time governor, especially at this time when the DPP Nordin Hajji had intensified the war on corruption.

Sources within the governor describe Mukhtar as a thorn in the flesh, owing to his widespread knowledge on the operations of the county administration.

Having worked as a finance executive with governor Nathfi Jama,  he would then call officers from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission, an action that saw him sacked.

To execute the plan, Governor Korane allegedly sought the services of his cousin who hired the alleged hitmen to track down Muktar.
