But this is not the case for 22-year-old James Karanja, a student in Kisii University partaking Applied mathematics, who has ventured into the entertainment industry by storm.

Karanja, as commonly known as MC Jimmie, is a celebrated emcee in Kisii town and region at large. With his experience, he has been featured in various music videos, university events, club hosting and in acting.

"I started this as a talent in 2010 during my high school sessions. I was very passionate about taking the entertainment industry into a greater level. I kicked off on stage as an actor which grew into being an emcee," Jimmie said.

With his passion in his talent, Jimmie has won various awards in Kisii including the 'Mc of the year award 2018'

"My one memorable moments is when I was the host emcee and curtain raised various celebrities including Timmy Tdat, Victoria Kimani and Papa Jones in Kisii," he said.

With his charges in hosting events and emceeing clubs in Kisii, Jimmie's earning has enabled him to pay his school fees and other critical bills for his campus survival including supporting his grandmother and siblings at home.

"I cannot quote the exact money I earn per month but it is good money which has enabled me to pay my university fees and other bills.

However, he has admitted that talent pays and he will focus on his talent rather than his degree as a source of living.

"I cannot ditch this industry for a job related to my degree. I love what I am doing and this is my hustle. I am the entertainment don," he concluded

Jimmie has called upon the youths to be creative in hustling so that that can kill idleness and earn clean money without desperately depending on being employed.
