Majority members allied to the opposition's Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) have proposed the expulsion of Obado from the party.

In a report to the ODM County Coordinating office by the county disciplinary committee on Thursday, the members accused Obado of gross misconduct and violation of party rules.

Through committee Chair Moniko Joseph, the members also want Obado punished over his recent public defiance of the party's nomination of former Cabinet Minister Ochillo Ayacko for the concluded senatorial race in the county.

"He has embarrassed the party and the party leader. He has also been campaigning for another candidate outside of the party We summoned him to come yet he ignored all sittings," he is quoted by Citizen Digital.

Migori county ODM Chairman Philip Mackabongo echoed the remarks, noting that the county chief's ongoing case and two other pending implications in criminal activities are tainting the party's image.

The members have as well proposed the expulsion of Masaba MCA Abedi Maroa, Organizing Secretary Joseph Nyambori and Festos Malema over claims of gross misconduct of party rules.

Obado was on Tuesday arrested after eight guns were retrieved from his houses in Nairobi and Migori during a raid on Tuesday.

He has also been accused of using fraudulent companies registered under the names of his relatives to syphon close to Ksh 2 billion from the county coffers.

The county chief also has a pending murder case over his alleged involvement in the gruesome murder of Rongo University student Sharon Otieno in September.
