Speaking on Sunday, Mudavadi noted with great concern that Raila seems to have forgotten the opposition.

He stated that thanks to his 2018 truce with President Uhuru Kenyatta, Raila is no longer in a position to criticize the government, especially about the runaway corruption.

"Raila is well known for taking issues head-on, he has all of a sudden gone mute and things are not good. I urge him to be what he has always been and lead the fight against the menace,” he was quoted by the People Daily.

The leader was speaking in Kisumu Central constituency.

He called upon the former Premier to come out of the political 'honeymoon' and openly tell the president that he is headed in the wrong direction.

Mudavadi now wants Raila to revert to his former nature and lend a hand in the war against corruption, at the same time saying that Uhuru has only a short time to slay the vice.

"You only have this year to act or else it will reach a point where you cannot handle the corruption cartels in this country so you better act before it’s too late,” he said.

Uhuru has repeatedly vowed to crush the menace in his second and final term, but no major convictions have been witnessed so far.
