Former Kathiani MP Wavinya Ndeti has criticized Governor Alfred Mutua for sitting on funds meant for Machakos County Assembly's operations.
Ndeti said the governor was wrong to withhold the funds from the national treasury thereby starving MCAs and the assembly's staff.
She claimed Mutua was trying to run the county like his own home.
"It's shocking that the governor has chosen to withhold MCAs salaries for two months, no law whatsoever permits one to withhold ones salary trying to control the county like his own home," Ndeti said.
Ndeti addressed the public at Ekalakala in Masinga Sub-county on Sunday.
She poked holes into Mutua's leadership saying that what he has done is bringing pain to Machakos people.
Ndeti said every institution has laws and Mutua should follow them.
She claimed that the governor was showing a bad picture to Machakos people.
"There are stipulated laws and the governor should know that we will fight him tooth and nail with the laws until he adheres. That money doesn't belong to him but Machakos people, he should be aware of that," she said.
Speaking at the same event, Ekalakala MCA Stephen Mwanthi said the county is lagging behind in terms of development.
Mwanthi said the governor should have sunk two new boreholes in every ward since he recaptured his seat but nothing has been done.
