Legislators allied to DP William Ruto are crying foul after President Uhuru Kenyatta reportedly ignored them in his secret tour at the coastal region.
For over 10 days now, Uhuru as been working from the coast and early this week, he even inspected development projects in various constituencies, reports the Nation.
Kinango MP Benjamin Tayari and his Ganze counterpart Teddy Mwambire admitted being left out despite the president visiting their constituencies early this week.
“I got the information when the President was already on the ground and that is when I asked the area MCA to attend since none of us had been invited,” Mr Tayari said on phone.
On Thursday, Uhuru toured Msambweni and Lunga Lunga with MP Khatib Mwashenani, another close confidant of Uhuru also nowhere to be seen.
Notably, not even Lands CAS Gideon Mung'aro also had any idea on the president's tour.
But in an interview, Mung'aro, another campaigner of Ruto, said the president was having impromptu visits across the region.
“The President is making his own impromptu inspection tours to check on projects, which is his right as Head of State,” said Mr Mung’aro on phone.
During his first week, Uhuru held closed-door meeting with ODM leader Raila Odinga and Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho.
The snub could be a corded message to DP Ruto, who has been holding campaign rallies in the pretext of development contrary to Uhuru's wishes.
Already, Uhuru ordered that all new government projects to be frozen, a move that could further sabotage Ruto's countrywide campaigns.
