President Uhuru Kenyatta will be in Kisumu on August 9 alongside opposition leader Raila Odinga.
The two will be at the lakeside town to launch the Universal Health Coverage since Kisumu is among the Health projects' pilot counties.
Uhuru will be at the county categorized as Raila's political bedrock.
The county voted for Raila almost to the man during the August 8th general election and roundly boycotted the October 26 repeat poll which Raila did not take part in.
When Uhuru visits, there is a high probability that he will warmly be received following his March 9 meeting with Raila who he said he was ready to work closely with in uniting a country that came out of last year's election sharply divided along regional and tribal lines.
The last time Uhuru was in Kisumu was on August 15, 2015, and the county's residence did the unthinkable- they gave him a warm reception despite the commander in chief being one of Raila's closest political rivals then because elections were just two years away.
He (Uhuru) has never set foot in Kisumu again.
His return on August 9 will be historical as it will be the first since he was re-elected for a second term.
When he tours the town next month, therefore, the former Gatundu South MP should not expect anything less than cheers.
After all, there are claims that he may actually support Raila's 2022 State House bid although this would only be possibles if the proposed amendment to the Constitution succeeds by reviewing the presidential age limit.
