With this latest move, Kenyans are now forced to dig deeper into their pockets for transport costs and it may soon get worse with the effects set to trickle down to cost of other commodities.

As the problem bothers all Kenyans, students pursuing a degree in economics at Moi University in Eldoret have also waded into the discussion.

The young economists, as they call themselves gave their opinions over the matter through their famous WhatsApp group 'Moi University Economics'.

Here are some of their views over the rise in fuel prices;

"This is what we call price push inflation. The increase in the price of fuel causes the increase in the price of other goods and services," Ann Mukami posted.

"The economy of Kenya is getting worse, if this continues we will never progress as a country na vision 2030 tutaionea Viusasa,"  Joramyan M. noted.

"I understand the price of maize flour and wheat flour is shooting up due to the high cost of fuel. Sasa Tutakula nini? I think the government should come up with a better solution to this. High taxes should be imposed on MPs salaries instead," Yasin Amoyi commented.
