Kiambu Members of County Assembly's plot to remove Speaker Stephen Ndicho has gained momentum after more MCAs joined the debate.
According to reports, 65 out of 92 Kiambu MCAs had on Wednesday signed a motion set to impeached the speaker and it has already been received by the assembly clerk.
Ruiru Baishara Ward MCA Elijah Njoroge who is behind the motion, has received a go ahead from the County Assembly Majority Leader Gideon Gachara who terming it a long overdue while adding that they will gone on despite a section of MCAs meeting Governor Waititu assuring their support for Mr. Ndicho.
Mr Ndicho was on Tuesday blocked by a section of MCAs who are supporting his impeachment where Kinoo MCA Kimani Wanjiku revealed that there was need to have a neutral person to lead in the House as they had little confidence on Ndicho.
“We want a neutral person to conduct the House business since as of now we do not have confidence in the Speaker. There is already an ouster motion being prepared and we feel there is a need for an impartial person to take charge,” said Wanjiku as quoted by Standard Media.
Majority Whip Simon Karema noted that their bid to kick out Ndicho will go on despite Governor Waititu meeting some MCAs to root for Ndicho's support against the impeachment motion.
“We know the governor met some of the MCAs and told them not to support the speaker’s ouster’s motion. The ward reps should be left to make their own independent decisions without being intimidated or coerced,” said Mr Karema.
However, Waititu has maintained that Ndicho has the support of majority of the MCAs.
