Now, for those who are into this kind of farming, then these type cabbages are the ones you need to consider having in your farm. 

It’s the Triperio FI variety.

According to a field officer with Syngenta, Triperio variety of cabbages have the ability to do well across the country.

“They are drought resistant. They can do well in any type of climate, most importantly in a low rainfall area,” says the officer who sought anonymity.

With Triperio cabbages in your farm, you’re guaranteed maximum returns. An acre-farm can accommodate at least 10,000 seedlings with the right spacing.

This variety has the ability to grow to 7-10 kilograms once mature (each of these cabbages can be sold between Sh100-200, depending on the market).

Apart from being drought resistant, they also have a strong tolerance against Black Rot disease, Thrips and Diamond Back Moth(DBM) and high resistance to Fusarium Yellows. It also has a strong stem elevation above ground with a very high uniformity in the field.

They mature after three months.

Nursery

Ensure you get the Triperio seed from a certified seed seller.

Nursery spacing can be one meter by any length. Recommended farrows depth is 3 cm deep and a seed-to-seed distance of 2-3cm. The soil of your nursery should be fine.

Once you’ve planted the seed in the nursery, cover with dry grass for 7 days. 

After germination, erect a shade, and spread the dry grass on it for two weeks, after which you need to reduce the amount of grass on the shade. Be sure to be irrigating the nursery for 5 days every evening.

Transplanting 

Spray your seeds with a pest control (Ridomill) one week before transplant.

Plant the seeds with a spacing of 7cm.

After every two weeks, be sure to spray your farm with a pest control (Ridomill).

This variety of cabbages is ready for harvesting after three months.
