There was a free wrestling match on Thursday evening in Riana, Bonchari in Kisii County after two men exchanged blows over a bag of stolen cement.
It is alleged that the bag of cement the two were fighting for was stolen by a worker in the ongoing Nyamira-Bogitaa road construction.
Witnesses said the trouble started when Eldanus Onderi went to pick the cement from where it was kept when Elvis Omori who had kept the cement said he will not give it to him.
“Onderi made connections with a road worker who stole the cement and kept it at Omori’s house. Omori refused to allow Onderi take the cement saying he is also entitled to buy cement,” said Cyrus Soteri.
Soteri said Onderi was angered and started beating up Omori before locals intervened.
Bernard Nyabisa, a local administrator confirmed the incident and warned residents against unnecessary fights.
“Theft is illegal and punishable by law. The cement is currently in my office and we are trying to follow up the worker who might have stolen the cement from the ongoing road construction. The two will help us to arrest the worker before taking him to court,” he said.
