A Public Service Vehicle (PSV) belonging to Royal Rift shuttle on Tuesday lost control and hit a University of Eldoret student who was cycling to school.
The vehicle was headed to Ziwa from Eldoret town when it was involved in the accident just a few meters from Chepkoilel Junction.
According to an eyewitness, the passenger vehicle with registration number KCM 937E was speeding when it lost control and hit the student.
The driver of the ill-fated vehicle allegedly ran away after the incident.
“Hiyo gari ilikuwa inaoverspeed ikitoka Junction ikaloose control. Ikagoga student na driver akatoroka (The Vehicle was from Junction spending when it lost control and hit the student. The driver then ran away),” said the eyewitness.
He also added that two passengers sustained minor injuries following the accident. One woman lost her teeth and the other passenger had an injury on his leg.
The student was taken to the hospital together with two other passengers who were also injured.
Police officers have already reported to the scene to determine the real cause of the accident.
