Money is one of the influences among the campus comrades. With the greed for more money, classic lines have been formulated to ensure they dig more money from parents.
"Hello mum, tumeitishwa pesa ya WiFi na kufungua portal before kesho," recalls James Karanja, a student in Kisii University.
This is one of the endless lies used. Speaking to various students on Thursday, various lines have been used to convince the parents to send money.
"I remember one time called my mother and asked her to send me Sh2,000 for me to photocopy various notes and handouts. Instead, I used the money to have some good times in the club," said Jane Moraa.
Money for Friday outing has outstanding as the major reason why parents go throughout this agony.
"One day I called my father and I told him we are on strike and we have been told to pay Sh3,500 as damage fee which is needed as soon as the following day," said Brian Kati.
All these types of lies fall on innocent parents whose love is to fulfil the dreams of their kids.
"When I tell my parents to send me upkeep money, they will send little money but when it affects my health or school work they send good money. I once told mum that am almost dying of diarrhoea and malaria and she sent me good money. It's through such deals that I bought my electronics," said Omondi.
No sweet lie beats that of a broke comrade!
