Ugenya parliamentary seat aspirant Daniel Juma has accused some of his rivals in the race of using violence in the ongoing campaigns.
Juma claims that Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) candidate Chris Karan and his Movement for Democracy and Growth (MDG) counterpart David Ochieng have been using hired youths to disrupt other aspirants' campaigns.
He termed them unfit for the position, noting that they have run out of ideas that can be beneficial to locals and are now resorting to violence in a bid to force their way to parliament.
"Wapinzani wangu wanaleta siasa za vita. Wamesahau maswala ya sera na wanachokifanya sasa ni kujipiga vifua. (They lack ideas and policies. The only thing they seem to know is violence and boasting)," he said.
Juma was speaking on Radio Maisha's Bunge La Maisha show on Tuesday morning.
He gave an example of a recent instance where Karan allegedly stormed an aspirants' debate within the constituency and with the help of his supporters, completely disrupted it.
Juma said that the exercise was going on well and peacefully until Karan arrived and turned it into a heated political rally.
"Juzi tulikuwa na debate pale Ugenya, ila Karan alipoingia akaiharibu kabisa ikawa mkutano wa siasa (he stormed the debate and destroyed it completely, turning it into a campaign rally)," he said.
The by-election is set for April 5, 2019.
