It takes the collaborative effort of security officers and the Kenyan citizens to prevent the nation from regular attacks.

The recent Dusit D2 attack in Nairobi has revealed many things about this nation.

It is evident that most Kenyans do not know their neighbours very well.

It is also hard to believe that the persons who mastered the attack were residing in the different estates across the nation.

Were the neighbours not suspicious of them?

Why friends not aware of their plans?

We do not need to wait until the nation is on fire before we rush up and down trying to find a solution when it is too late.

Here’s what you can do to prevent a terror attack:

1. Remain vigilant in public areas

Most terror attacks occur in public places.

The attackers often look for areas where they can kill a large number of people.

Be very keen whenever you are at any public place.

Be on the watch out to see anything strange happening.

In case you see any, do not be reluctant to raise the alarm.

2. Report any suspicious person

Do you have a suspicious neighbour at your place?

It could be a wise idea to report that person.

Some of the terrorists live within us.

Find out the kind of neighbour you live with before things fall apart.

3. Educate others on the effects of a terror attack

It can be a good idea to educate friends and other people in your life about terror attacks.

Remind youths not to join radical groups no matter the situations they are facing.

Also, report any suspicion among your children before they shed blood, security starts with us.
