Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua has said he will accept the Supreme Court's verdict on the election appeal case between former Kathiani MP Wavinya Ndeti and himself.
Mutua had moved to the highest court of the land to challenge the Court of Appeal's ruling that nullified his August 8, 2017 re-election as the Machakos governor.
Exuding confidence of a positive ruling by the Supreme Court, Mutua said he will abide by what the court rules on the appeal.
“I am ready for the ruling that the court will make whether positive or negative, but we are hoping that it will be in our favor,” Mutua said.
He addressed his supporters outside the Supreme Court on Wednesday.
Mutua asked his supporters to remain calm as they await the ruling which the Supreme Court Judges said will be on a notification.
The governor's lawyer Kioko Kilukumi asked the Supreme Court Judges to dismiss the appellant court's ruling.
Mutua insisted that he was validly elected with majority votes in the 2017 Machakos gubernatorial election.
He said the Court of Appeal erred by nullifying his victory on the ground of technicality in the submission and announcing of the results.
