Kiraithe lauded his successor describing him as one of the most competent Kenyans who could do the job.

"I sincerely tell you and with all honesty that I believe I am handing over the job of being the voice of the government of Kenya to probably one of the most competent Kenyans who could do the job, " Kiraithe said.

Kiraithe asked journalists to exercise due diligence before publishing anything so as to avoid legal suits.

"What I would want to urge you is that as good partners, partners not just to this ministry but to other departments, you might once in a while come across a paper... but kindly don't be in a hurry to broadcast unauthorised information. I know in areas like investigations, some of you have incurred your media houses huge bills when you go out and convict people before they are given their day in court, " Kiraithe said.

Kiraithe will now serve in the Ministry of ICT as Principal Administrative Secretary.

He also served as a Spokesperson for the Kenya Police before he was elevated to the position of Government Spokesman.
