Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i has found himself in the wrong-side with the residents of Nyamira County following hiked fare.
The residents have now 'cursed' him for giving directives which are too costly to 'poor' residents.
"Matiang'i won't know peace in his life because he is only interested seeing us being exploited by matatu operators and riders. The ongoing crackdown on Michuki rules has really affected us poor people of Nyamira because we can't afford to pay the hiked fare charges to various places across the country," said Edinah Mong'ina.
Nicodemus Riang'a stated that Matiang'i's forceful directives on matatus will haunt him when he gets old.
"Matiang'i's hard stance on matatus forcing them to hike fares will haunt him when he grows old. Time will come when he will reckon his current 'hard' directive which end up subjecting poor people to torture," said Riang'a.
Florence Nyambego noted that she has not been able to go to Kisii town where she owns a beauty shop due to hiked fares.
"Fare charge hiked to Sh320 from Nyamira-Kisii. I have no reported to work since yesterday just because of Matiang'i hard stance on PSVs. I condemn him for the losses I have incurred for not opening my shop," she said.
