Prof Zadock Ogutu, the Bomachoge Borabu MP, argued that Matiang'i's powerful position in government should be a benefit to Gusii community members.

"Matiang'i was named the powerful minister in the Jubilee government supervising all national government projects. My humble appeal to him is that he should revive stalled development projects in Nyamira and Kisii Counties respectively," he said.

Mr Ogutu maintained that Gusii community members are happy with Matiang'i's elevation adding that a few individuals opposed to Matiang'i's new roles in government are desperate.

"As a community we are proud of Matiang'i. He has build the name of the Gusii community. Let us give him necessary support in his new role and take advantage to push him to revive stalled projects," he added.

The vocal lawmaker challenged elected leaders from the Gusii region to speak in one voice and prioritize development.

"Politicians should be at the front line fighting for development and not engaging in divisive politics," said Ogutu.
