Most popular figures in society have a surprising history behind their success. Erick Odhiambo Okello popularly known as Ricc Berry is one of them.
The Eldoret-based musician who has taken airwaves by storm has a history behind his success in life.
Ricc Berry was born 28 years ago in Kisumu county and studied at Thurdibuoro High Schol where he scored a grade B in the 2003 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE).
At that time, a B was a university grade but Ricc Berry failed to join due to the family's financial crisis. He wanted to study Journalism at the university but that dream was never actualized as his mother died just before he sat for the KCSE.
With the financial difficulties, Ricc Berry moved to Nairobi after clearing form four where he worked at Nairobi Art Cape. It is here that he acquired skills in coffee preparations.
He later moved to Eldoret town and secured a job as a barista at Members Premier, where he still works up to date.
On his musical career, Ricc Berry joined the industry in 2017 with 'Number Sita' as his debut song. The song was produced in Eldoret town by Cymphony Media.
“I recorded Number Sita after I broke up with my girlfriend. This love song, even though failed to receive much airplay as I had expected I went on to work on my second song iPad," Ricc Berry told a local online publication.
Other songs he has done include 'Nakulilia' produced by Grandpa Records and 'Niwewe' that was released in July.
Apart from music, Ricc Berry is skilled in preparing coffee varieties ranging from Cappuccino, Latte, Mocha, Macchiato, Espresso to House Coffee.
