The impeachment plan is led by Siaya Senator James Orengo.

But speaking on Wednesday, Ngunjiri rubbished Orengo's claims that he was airing his own personal opinion, saying that he is being used by opposition boss Raila Odinga.

He said that the attempt is one of the propaganda aimed at maligning Ruto's name, urging the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party to up its game.

“We know Orengo is speaking for Raila in the propaganda to malign Ruto’s name. ODM should keep off petty politics and allow the ruling party to work for Kenyans,” he was quoted by the People Daily.

But defending himself on Tuesday, Orengo maintained that he was misquoted and is not in the process of attempting to impeach Ruto who remains silent on the issue.

He added that he was just giving Kenyans unhappy with Ruto's an alternative route to oust him, noting that the declaration is receiving impressing support from the MPs.

"The motion is purely my idea and not of ODM leader Raila Odinga or the party,” said the vocal lawmaker.Orengo said that Ruto can easily be ousted on grounds of gross misconduct and insubordination.
