Kwale Governor Salim Mvurya received the Supreme Court verdict that he won the 2017 general election with delight saying the victory was a true reflection of the voters’ wish.
Reacting to the ruling which threw out a petition challenging his election on Friday, Mvurya promised to re-dedicate his energy towards serving the electorate.
Speaking at Saba-Saba in Matuga where celebrations of his victory rented the air, the governor who was flanked by his Deputy Fatuma Achani and supporters said the completion of the case was a big relief for the people of Kwale.
‘’We will no longer be serving the people under the chain of a petition. We are free now and able to concentrate more in service delivery to the people who elected us with a resounding majority,” he said.
Governor Mvurya said it was his opponent's right to seek court intervention “but the margin with which I beat him was too big”.

A close ally of Governor Mvurya, Mshenga Vuyaa Ruga welcomed Chirau Ali Mwakwere who came second in the election to join hands with the governor to propel the county forward now that the case was over.
“We now ask Mzee Mwakwere to come and join Governor Mvurya and Ms Achani to move Kwale to the next development level because the case has been concluded,” said Mshenga.
