The body of a young boy who went missing on July 9, was on Thursday found behind his parents' house in Bakarani, Kisauni.

 According to the police, neigbours were attracted by a foul smell from the back of the house. They late after found the body wrapped in a sack.

The boy was identified as Francis Bakari a pupil of Bahari primary school.

The 11-year-old boy had last been seen by his mother on Monday at around 8.30p.m in their house.

"His mother left him in the living room watching television before she retired to bed. At around 11.00 p.m she woke up to find the television still on. She switched it off and assumed that he was sleeping in his room," said Adnan, his step-father.

"Early the next morning, the mother was shocked to find him missing when she went to get him ready for school."

 In a statement, Mombasa County police commander Johnston Ipara,  said that the issue was still being investigated and the perpetrators will be arrested.

"It is surprising that someone would abduct a young child, kill him and later dump the body near their house. We are still investigating this matter," said Ipara.

The body which appeared to have been tortured before being murdered was taken to Coast Provincial General Hospital for post- moterm.
