Police in Kitale, Trans Nzoia County, are investigating an incident where suspected thieves dug a hole into a local shop with the intention of stealing.
However, the group is said to have been left disappointed after getting only Sh2,000 coins inside Chase Drapers, a shop that deals in uniform.
This is after 'wasting' two hours digging a hole into the shop.
Trans Nzoia West police boss Joseph Tum confirmed the Tuesday night incident.
''We are investigating whether it was an inside job and soon we will get to the bottom of the matter,'' Tum was quoted by the Standard.
It is believed the group expected to steal a good amount of money from the shop but left disappointed after meeting coins, which they took anyway.
The police boss said his officers have collected vital clues they are putting into use, noting that there were no breakage signs, adding that the security guard on duty did not detect anything.
''We only lost few coins from the shop and the matter is being investigated by police,'' the shop owner was also quoted by the Standard.
