President Uhuru Kenyatta on Tuesday received a special message from Pope Francis through his representative Archbishop Hubertus Van Megen.

The Pope, through the message delivered by Megen, assured the President that the Catholic Church will continue to support the government in the war against graft.

Speaking on Tuesday at State House Nairobi when he received Letters of Credence from incoming Ambassadors and High Commissioners from eight, Uhuru said that he is glad to work with other nations. 

He also assured them that he is ready to work closely with them to boost relations between Kenya and their respective countries.

Megen said that the Catholic Church has always been against graft, adding that it will not change its tune any soon. 

“Archbishop Hubertus Van Megen, the incoming representative of His Holiness Pope Francis in Kenya, assured the President that the Catholic Church fully supports the ongoing crackdown against corruption and related economic crimes. @ForeignOfficeKE,” State House revealed.

Uhuru, who is completing his second and final term in office, has insisted that he will not tolerate corrupt individuals in his government as long as he remains in office. 

He has been urging leaders to deliver their duties without fear or favor for the sake of economic growth before their terms in office come an end.
