The region has since been divided giving birth to Kieleweke and Tanga Tanga factions. Kieleweke is opposed to DP Ruto's presidency in 2022 while Tanga Tanga is drumming support for his bid.

Mwale now says that Uhuru is to blame for the situation, observing that his silence on matters Central Kenya has left a vacuum, resulting in confusion.

"Uhuru has been so silent, resulting in the emergence of what we call a power vacuum (Uhuru amenyamaza sana kukawa na ile tunaita power vacuum)," said the opposition lawmaker.

The legislator was speaking in an interview on Radio Maisha's Bunge La Maisha on Monday morning.

However, he warned that those already considering shifting the throne to another person will have it almost impossible, as the seat remains occupied by the president.

He said that Uhuru remains the man with the final say in the region despite his silence, and removing him from the position of the ultimate decision maker should be ruled out.

"Some have been trying to fill the vacuum but it will be hard because the one occupying the seat is still around (Kuna wengine wamekuwa wakijaribu kujaza ile vacuum lakini itakuwa vigumu maana mwenye kiti bado yuko)," he added.

Uhuru's silence comes after his declaration last year, that his choice for a successor will come as a shock to many.
