Migori governor Okoth Obado's bodyguard John Chacha alias Mwita Moses Mogaya was on Tuesday charged in court over fake academic papers.
Mr Chacha was accused of allegedly using fake academic documents to secure employment as an Administration Police officer.
The accused person however denied the charges before the Nairobi Court and filed an application to be released on bail pending the next case hearing.
His application was granted and he was released on a Sh1 million bail.
“Mr John Chacha Nyamohanga alias Mwita Moses Mogaya, the bodyguard of Migori governor Okoth Obado charged before a Nairobi Court with personation of a person named in a certificate.”
“He denied the charges and was granted cash bail of Kshs.1 million. Pre-trial on October 12th,” the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission wrote on its Twitter handle.
Mr Chacha was arrested on Monday by Detectives from EACC for allegedly securing employment by using academic documents belonging to someone else.
The accused person, who is an Administration Police officer working in Migori County, was arrested at a hotel near the Milimani Law Courts.
Governor Obado was also on Tuesday charged in court with the murder of his lover, Rongo University student Sharon Otieno.
Justice Jessie Lesiit ordered that the governor be remanded at Industrial Area Remand Prison for another two nights pending determination of his bail application.
The case will be mentioned on September 27 for the ruling.
