The former Mombasa County governor aspirant Sulaiman Shahbal has mourned the former Mombasa mayor Shariff Ali Shekue who happened to pass away on Monday.
In a message through his Facebook page on Monday, Sulaiman revealed that the death of the former Mombasa Mayor is shocking and has left behind a deep sorrow.
Sulaiman Shabal described the late Shariff as a great man, whom he worked with in making Mombasa better place, as they often changed ideas.
According to him, to honor the Sharriff in a better way, he suggested that Mombasa should set up a formally recognised Consultative Council which would recognise and honor senior citizens.
"I am deeply saddened to hear of the passing of our former Mayor Hon Shekue. He and I tried to work together for the betterment of Mombasa and we often exchanged ideas on how we wanted to see a better Mombasa. His last few years were difficult and made worse by poor health. I believe that Mombasa should set up a formally recognised Consultative Council which would recognise and honor senior citizens - politicians and others - who served Mombasa.
"It would have retained the honor and respect that such people deserved and given them a platform to add their wise counsel to the leadership of the day and to continue contributing to Mombasa. It is sad that we lose experience so fast. May he Rest In Peace and God to give his family the patience to bear this loss." Sulaiman Shabal wrote on his official Facebook page
