South Mugirango Member of Parliament Sylvanus Osoro has drummed up support for Deputy President William Ruto ahead of the 2022 polls.
The MP opined that DP Ruto has higher chances of beating former Prime Minister Raila Odinga in the upcoming polls compared to Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i.
Speaking at Ekerenyo Stadium in North Mugirango, Nyamira County on Monday, the MP argued that the CS Matiang'i lacks experience in matters politics, noting that he has never even served as a chairman in a tea buying centre.
"DP Ruto is development oriented and he is best suited to beat Raila unlike Matiang'i. No one will pave way for Matiang'i to run for presidency given that the former prime minister has been seeking the seat for years," said the MP.
He further argued that Matiang'i is being used to derail DP Ruto's presidential bid, adding that he will soon be dumped.
"Let us not be fooled that Matiang'i will make it to State House yet we all know who will win the seat when the time comes. 2022 government is being prepared now and as a community, we must fight for our space in government. There is a need for us to join a winning team early," he stated.
The youthful lawmaker is serving his first term in Parliament after he clinched the seat on a Kenya National Congress (KNC) Party ticket.
The legislator is also a member of the 'Tanga Tanga' movement, a political group pushing for DP Ruto's presidency in 2022.
This comes after a section of leaders from the Gusii region led by Nyamira Governor John Nyagarama endorsed CS Matiang'i to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta after his term comes to an end in 2022.
