It is of so much importance to get the right type of food while heading for an interview because it determines if or not you are hired.

According to nutritionist Judy Shihundu, diet is a key factor to be considered when preparing for a job interview.

She, however, observes that 80 percent of job seekers don’t factor in the diet they take in their interview plan.

Shihundu says that one has to choose the right type of food to eat before going for an interview.

“Not all food is consumable when planning and preparing for an interview,” the nutritionist says.

Here are foods that you should avoid eating before going for an interview.

1. Carbohydrates

The nutritionist notes that eating carbohydrates hours to an interview reduces your alertness.

She says that people who eat carbohydrates end up sleeping during the interview session. Foods like white rice, ugali, potatoes and white bread should be avoided.

2. Water

You should avoid taking too much water hours before the interview.

Nutritionists say that taking a lot of water will disadvantage since you have to constantly rush to the toilet thereby, disrupting the interviewing process.

Minimal water intake is, however, recommended.

3. Beans

They cause bloating and are not recommended when preparing for an interview.

The bloating causes discomfort and results in stomach aches. It will be embarrassing if you turn up for an interview while bloating and having stomach aches.

4. Onions/garlic/spices

You should avoid spiced foods especially those that have onion and garlic. Nutritionists say that these food cause bad breath which may work against you at the interview.
