Aisha Jumwa Katana has a complex academic history. She has braved harsh conditions to achieve whatever she enjoys today politically and academically. The Malindi Member of Parliament is a second born in a family of five.

Born in 1975, she started school at her village school, Takanga Primary School. She joined Murray secondary school after sitting her Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE). Jumwa was in Murray secondary school for only two years and dropped out while in form two. The break was to allow her to have her first born.

The vocal legislator later joined Ganze secondary school. She then enrolled at Nyali senior school and completed her secondary education.

The former Kilifi woman representative then managed to join Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology where she attained a certificate in County Management. Jumwa then joined Jomo Kenyatta University of Technology and graduated with a degree in Commerce.

This has enabled her sail through the political waters.
