Nyamira County government will move out of the national government offices six years after devolution governance started.
Nyamira County Governor John Nyagarama said his government since 2013 has been using offices belonging to the national government.
On Tuesday, the county boss presided over the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of new county offices.
"It a step my government has made by starting the construction of new offices six years after devolution came into being. I am committed to ensure the county headquarters construction comes to an end before I complete my second and last tenure in 2022," he said.
Nyagarama urged local leaders not to politicize his style of leaders adding that he was elected to serve the people of Nyamira and not the interests of some selfish individuals.
He said the construction of the county headquarters will cost taxpayers Sh382 million and the construction is expected to be completed by 2022.
The ODM allied governor assured that in 2019, he will not condone lazy workers who are derailing development.
"County workers are paid to serve the electorates. Any lazy worker must be ready to go home because we have competed people who will be employed to offer quality services to the people of Nyamira," he stated.
