Former Sports Cabinet Secretary Rashid Echesa has said that he has no regrets after President Uhuru Kenyatta fired him.
Speaking during an interview with Sunday Nation, Echesa said that he achieved many things during his one year term as the CS.
He said that there was no good stadium in the country when he took over office but now there are several.
The former boxer named the Kasarani, Nyayo (in Nairobi) and Kinoru (in Meru) among the stadiums that were constructed.
Echesa also said that the national football team Harambee Stars qualified for the 2019 African Cup of Nations.
He also noted that there was a plan to ensure that Safari Rally to the World Rally Championships before he was dropped.
Echesa, a staunch supporter of Ruto, also said that the boxing field benefited during his term in office.
“We now have Kasarani, Nyayo (in Nairobi), and Kinoru (in Meru) as some of the pitches that can host international matches,” he said, as quoted by Daily Nation.
He also said that he was fired in an unconstitutional manner. Echesa claimed that he was dismissed over his support for Deputy President William Ruto.
Echesa said that his vocal nature made him a victim of circumstances before he was fired from his office.
