Just a day after Nyarangi Moturi's death, it has now now emerged that he died in his vehicle on his way to a Nairobi hospital.
Family spokesman Nyayiemi Moturi said his brother had complained of headache before succumbing on his way to hospital.
"He was being rushed to hospital before dying on the way. However, he has been struggling for a long time," he said.
Mr. Moturi served as North Mugirango MP from 1988-92 and was a staunch supporter of retired President Daniel Moi, a move that earned him assistant minister position in government.
After losing in seat, attempts to make a come back flopped with the latest coming in 2013 when he tried senatorial position on Chama Cha Mwananchi, but lost to Okong'o Mong'are.
Several leaders have hailed his contribution to the nation with Governor John Nyagarama describing him as a pro-development leader who fought for a long before it was conceived.
"He was a pro-development and through him, electrical connectivity was initiated in entire Gusii region," said Nyagarama.
The family will make decision whether to bury him in Borabu scheme or in his rural home at Bomwagamo, North Mugirango.
