The differences between Baringo Senator Gideon Moi and Deputy President (DP) William Ruto reared its ugly head during the burial of the former’s brother Jonathan Moi at Kabimoi, Baringo.
It was clearly shown that DP Ruto was not welcome to the function and this subjected him to humiliation after he decided to attend.
First, it was a cold shoulder from Gideon Moi. The Baringo senator gave the DP a cold greeting compared to other high profile guests.
When Ruto reached for a handshake, Gideon is seen stretching his hand to greet him but in a manner most cold.
He remains sitting unlike when he received ex-Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka. Greeting Kalonzo, he stood up and gave him a firm handshake.
The function had also been crafted in such a manner that Ruto was given the role to invite Gideon Moi to send his father’s condolences. This was obviously meant to humiliate the DP.
Despite Ruto attending the function, President Uhuru Kenyatta’s message of condolence was read by his brother Muhoho Kenyatta.
This was a major protocol glitch where Ruto, being the senior-most government leader in the function, ought to have been the one delivering the President’s message.
