Guided by intelligence from the ground, the party dispatched Oparanya to Nyamira, just a week after the DP left.

"There were plans to recruit grassroot leaders to the DP camp and it was just a matter of time before they officially decamped," a source hinted.

But on Saturday, Oparanya rallied behind ODM soldiers, asking them to remain intact before much anticipated 2022 polls.

In his speech at Damside Hotel, Oparanya also revealed that the party would start facilitating grassroot leaders to avert scheme by Mr Ruto.

"We agreed about facilitation and this will be tabled in the next ADC. We cannot allow them to take advantage. Let's unite all members and move forward as a team," Oparanya said.

For the last six month, Ruto has toured Gusii region over eleven times and on Friday, he's expected to be guest in Shabana FC fundraising.

The entire Gusii region is projected to have slightly over one million voters thus the interest from top candidates.
