Police have launched a manhunt for a masked man who dumped six heads of dead pigs at the Kiambu Level Five Hospital on Thursday, causing panic among patients and staff.
Kiambu County Commissioner Wilson Wanyanga, told journalists on Friday that the man and those who sent him will be charged in court once they are apprehended.
"We are looking for the person who dumped the heads of dead pigs at the hospital and also those who sent him,'' said Wanyanga.
The heads of the pigs had ribbons reading "Kiambu hospital thieves"
According to eye witnesses, the six heads were dumped at the gate by a man wearing a mask.
"He came driving in a Probox vehicle, alighted from the car and dumped the pigs' heads at the gates before driving off," a security guard said.
A human rights group, 'Operation Ondoa Panya', has now claimed that it ordered for the heads to be dumped at the hospital's gate.
The lobby group alleges massive graft at the Kiambu hospital and says it has written to the Director of Public Prosecutions demanding investigations into the hospital's management.
The Thursday incident caused fear among patients who had thronged the hospital for services.
The Kiambu Level Five Hospital made headlines recently after reports emerged of patients being forced to share beds.
The are also claims that patients who visit the facility are forced to buy medicine from private pharmacists and clinics.
Last week, Governor Ferdinand Waititu blamed the poor state of affairs at the hospital on delays by the National Treasury to release funds to counties.
Waititu also blamed the poor service delivery at the hospital on the influx of patients from other counties.
