The North Rift branch of the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentist Union (KMPDU) secretary general Ismael Ayabei said the governor has 48 hours to apologize, failure to which he will face unspecified action.

Addressing the press at the St. Luke's Hospital in Eldoret town on Thursday, Ayabei termed the allegations by the county boss as a diversionary tactic.

The governor had claimed he was paying six ghost doctors Sh300,000 monthly.

“We would like to take this early opportunity to demand that he apologizes and withdraws the malicious allegations," Ayabei told the press.

“The governor's allegations are divisionary since Baringo County has reneged on implementing the doctors' Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA). This has led to a demotivated workforce due to delayed promotions, severe shortage of doctors among others,” he added.

The KMPDU official further asserted that county governments lacked the capacity to manage the human resources for the health sector and asked President Uhuru Kenyatta and the legislature to grant Kenyans a Health Service Commission as a recipe for the realization of the Universal Health Care programme.
