Chief Justice David Maraga should consider intervening in a case that involves a minister and the county assembly of Nyamira where Sh24 million is at the center of the probe, a youthful MCA has said.
Jubilee nominated MCA George Mosiori on Tuesday urged Maraga to step in and advise courts on how to relate with the assembly, which he says should not be interfered with when executing it's obligations.
According to him, the court erred in blocking the assembly from discussing alleged corruption perpetuated by Public Service Management minister Bernard Osumo.
"I am begging the Chief Justice David Maraga to have a look at this case. We impeached a minister who has squandered our resources but he has rushed to court, which now tells us to restrain from discussing him in the assembly.
"If courts can block us from exercising our oversight roles, what about the ordinary people? The Chief Justice should talk to these people. We risk being thrown to the state of anarchy," he argued.
Mr Mosiori was speaking at Ekerenyo on Tuesday where Interior Ministry through PS Karanja Kibicho had organised Huduma Namba listing exercise.
Early this month, Justice Nduma Nderi blocked the assembly from discussing, impeaching or coasting Osumo employment, adding that a case filed by him should be heard and determined first.
"I here by instruct the assembly to desist from debating, discussing or impeaching the applicant until the matters raised are heard and determined by the court," read the court order.
Mr Osumo is accused of among others, gross misconduct, abuse of office and grand corruption. MCAs believe that he squandered Sh24 million meant for payment of six officials.
