Villagers of Bogetenga village in South Mugirango, Kisii County are mourning the death of a woman who was hacked to death by her husband on Tuesday morning.
Confirming the incident area chief Benjamin Obutu said the killer husband identified as Vincent quarrelled with the deceased Wilter Bosibori, 30 before he hit her with a blunt object.
"Vincent asked Bosibori to wake up early in the morning to prepare 'porridge' for him but, Bosibori took long to wake up. The suspect picked a metal rod which used to hit her from the back of her head killing her instantly," said the chief.
Mr. Obutu said the suspect escaped after the incident.
He assured that the search has been launched to apprehended the killer.
"Members of the public should be vigilant to ensure the suspect is nabbed. Anyone with information where the suspect has gone into hiding can volunteer to police or my office to ease the arrest," he said.
The administrator said the deceased body was moved to Tabaka mission hospital mortuary.
He reiterated that violence against women will not be condoned in his area of jurisdiction.
"Women should not shy off from reporting their husbands who are assaulting them silently to the police. Violence must come to end as this will help to curb unnecessary deaths resulting from violence," he added.
