A middle-aged was on Wednesday nabbed for allegedly being in possession of bhang.
The incident happened in Nyatieko, Kitutu Chache South in Kisii County.
Confirming the incident area chief Lawrence Omari said the suspect Philomen Michira has been among the notorious bhang seller and smoker in the area.
"Members of the public have been complaining about the suspect who is selling and smoking bhang to school going children. A raid conducted by me with the help of community policing officials enabled us to nab the suspect in his house," he said.
Mr Omari said the suspect tried to escape in vain.
"We found him with several rolls of bhang. Members of the public attempted to beat him up but, luckily I notified Nyatieko police officers who whisked him away from residents who were baying for his blood," said the chief.
He assured that the suspect was locked up at Nyatieko police post where he will name some of the bhang dealers before being taken to court before Friday.
"He will be taken to court once he helps police to name other suspects," he added.
