Kibwezi West MP Patrick Musimba has exuded confidence that Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka will win the presidential election in the 2022 polls.
The Wiper lawmaker said Kalonzo has a chance to ascend to the top leadership owing to his political experience.
Addressing journalists in Kibwezi town on Wednesday, Musimba asked Kenyans to give Kalonzo a chance in the next general elections.
He said Kalonzo has the leadership qualities and his presidency is what Kenya needs.
“Kalonzo is the best candidate to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta in 2022 and Kenyans should support him,” Musimba said.
Musimba pleaded with the Ukambani politicians to unite and rally behind Kalonzo’s bid.
He said the Ukambani region's unity will enable Kalonzo to reach out to other politicians for support in 2022.
“We have no option but to unite and work together as Ukambani,” he said.
Kalonzo is among the top politicians who are eyeing to succeed President Kenyatta.
The former Vice President, however, faces stiff competition in his backyard since Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua has equally declared his interest in the same seat.
A section of Kamba politicians is piling pressure on Mutua to shelve his bid in support of Kalonzo's.
Mutua has, however, ruled out stepping down for Kalonzo or anyone else.
He has maintained that his name will be on the presidential ballot in 2022.
