Born on February 26, 1976 in Mombasa, Ali Hassan Joho is the governor of Mombasa county. He is a member and deputy party leader of Orange Democratic Movement (ODM).

He joined active politics in 2004, and became the Kisauni party chairman for the Liberal Democratic Party between 2006-2007.

Joho was elected to represent the people of Kisauni Constituency in the National Assembly as an MP during the 2007 general election and also became an assistant minister.

He also held various positions as an MP, including; ODM, Organising Secretary; Vice Chairman for the Defense and Foreign Relations Committee of Parliament, Power and Privileges Committee, Parliament; Library Committee member of Transport, Housing and Public Works; and Member of the ODM Re-loaded team.

He widely campaigned to be elected as the first governor of Mombasa during the March 4, 2013 general election and successfully won by 132,583 votes.

Besides a rich political background and unquestionable record in the public service, Joho has had an illustrious career as a businessman. 

The politician who is the presidency is the founder and pioneer of Prima Pest and Bins Limited, the first garbage collection company in Mombasa.

He is also the founder of M-tech Kenya Limited and East African Terminals and commands respect within the shipping and logistics industry. During his free time, Joho undertakes a lot of charity work.

Through, the Hassan Joho Foundation, a non profitable organization, Joho supports the needy members of the society.
