Ahmed died on Friday and his body was transferred to Pandya Memmorial Hospital mortuary. Details about the cause of his death are still scanty.

Mwinyihaji will be buried on Friday 26 October, after a burial Swala that will be held at Masjid Marembo.

Several politicians joined the public in mourning the fallen young man. They described him as a promising youth who has gone too soon.

“After the grueling campaigns last year I happened to bump into Ahmed on several occasions. He was quite cordial and friendly and we would joke about the 2017 campaigns. He came out as a humble, promising young man and it is a huge loss to all who knew him,” said Governor Ali Hassan Joho’s advisor, Hamisi Mwaguya.

Joho also joined his advisor in morning Ahmed. He prayed that the Almighty leads the family during this tough time.

“On behalf of my family my the County Government of Mombasa, I condole Senator Mohammed Faki and his family for the loss of his son Ahmed Mohammed Mwinyihaji. We pray to the Almighty to grant him Jannatul Firdaus and accept all his deeds. May the Almighty assuage your grief, grant you patience and strength to endure the sorrow. Inna Lillahi Waina Illeyhi Rajiuun,” Joho wrote on Facebook.
