This is after the supermarket chain was accused of racism.

Sonko is believed to have issued the order on Sunday evening, a move legal experts argue that was wrong.

According to Suba North MP Millie Odhiambo, Sonko should have sought legal advice and allow due process before issuing the order.

Speaking on Monday during a Citizen interview, Odhiambo said that Sonko has no mandate to revoke licenses.

On the other hand, Nairobi county speaker Beatrice Elachi wondered whether Sonko was receiving the right advice.

“There is no way the governor would just think of something and do it. He has advisers to advise him legally,” she said.

A statement by Chandarana Foodplus on July 28 said Mrs. Rima Patel who was the author of the controversial email was not proficient in English, hence her choice of language.

“It is not a reflection of what we stand for, not in any remote way. We will take all the stern and strict steps necessary to ensure it never happens again,” read part of the statement.
